Frequently Asked Questions

  • Should campers bring their own basketballs?

No. Please leave all personal balls at home.

  • Do campers pack or purchase lunch?

At this time, campers must bring a packed lunch. If this changes, all registrants will be notified. A camp snack bar (“Protein Bar”) is available for Summer Hoops Camp. Coach Hasson typically has water available at every event.

  • When can parents stay and watch?

For group events, parents are welcome to watch at anytime but free to go. We always provide a daily schedule at the check-in table. For personal training, parents must stay in the gym for the 45 minute session.

  • Who staffs the camps?

Camp is directed by Coach Jason Hasson and staffed by his regular season assistants and/or Belleview employees. All adult staff must have undergone fingerprinting, background checks, and met with school approval. Over the summer, current Belleview basketball players typically work as counselors/referees. Belleview alumni often use their summer break from college to work at camp.

  • Are cell phones and other smart devices allowed?

Yes, but they must remain in backpacks at all-times in the designated backpack area. No one is allowed to return to the backpack area except during supervised breaks. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  • When do campers receive their t-shirts?

Daytime camp shirts are handed out and camp photos are taken on the last day. Summer Squad receives their shirts on the first day. We order surplus in all sizes, however, last-minute registration are not guaranteed their requested size.

  • How do you manage the disparity of ages and skill levels?

We work hard to make sure campers feel both comfortable and challenged. We divide the entire camp into two age divisions: NCAA for 3rd-5th Grade, and the NBA for 6th-8th Grade. Within each division, we draft teams. After morning tryouts on Day 1, coaches privately draft their teams. This allows us to spread out the talent without embarrassment and to promote healthy competition. During games, everyone gets equal playing time. Second-string players face each other in the first and third quarters. First-string players face each other in the second and fourth quarters. Most teams have two co-coaches. This allows individual explanations when beginners need them.

  • What is the camp refund policy?

For Saturday Squad and Personal Training: There is a 12 hour cancelation policy. Less than 12 hours, credit may or may not be applied at the discretion of the head coach.

For Summer Hoops Camp, Summer Squad, and Winter Hoops Camp: 50+ days before session 100% refund, 40-49 days before session 75% refund, 30-39 days before session 50% refund, 15-29 days before session 25% refund. 14 days or less, refunds will only be given as a credit for another session. Once the session begins, credit may or may not be applied at the discretion of the head coach (i.e. injury, family emergency). The reason for this is because camp is specifically staffed for the registered number of kids and teams, and because of the nature of camp expenses. Dismissal from camp due to poor conduct will not be issued a refund. We thank you for your understanding on this matter.

  • COVID-19 protocol?

We defer all precautionary measures to the prudential judgment of the parents. However, we strongly discourage mask-wearing while exercising and playing basketball for safety reasons. We ask that any camper who has symptoms of illness, or has had a fever within 24 hours, to remain at home. Thank you.

  • Are there group rates or financial assistance available?

We occasionally offer group rates. Please email us your details. We also have the Hasson Hoops Scholarship essay contest for both age divisions of Summer Hoops Camp. Read the application guidelines here. For any other concerns, please reach out to us. Thank you.

  • How do I earn a Saturday Squad T-Shirt?

If you have been to eight Saturday Squad workouts in a single school year, you qualify for a free Squad t-shirt.

  • How do you pronounce 'Hasson'?

HASS-in, rhymes with “pass in.” 😃
